A very respectable 175 points last week netted me absolutely sweet FA. Thanks very much Tyler Lockett and co who put up monster numbers that were the difference makers last week. Lets see what week 8 has in store.
QB – Jimmy Garoppolo, $5,400 – The obvious play here is Mahomes at home to the Chiefs but I feel the value of Jimmy G here is too good to pass up on. Seattle are ranked last against the pass in the league and were just torn up by Kyler Murray and co. The niners are also scratching around for depth at the running back position so I fancy the arm of Jimmy will see more work in this one. Money saved here also allows me to be more aggressive elsewhere on my roster.
RB – Kareem Hunt, $6,900- Hunt continues to produce and now has 7 touchdowns on the season, tied for the league lead. The Raiders give up the most fantasy points to running backs and have struggled both through the air and on the ground. A multi touchdown performance for Hunt here is certainly not out of the equation. The Browns may get Nick Chubb back after the bye week, so this could be the last week where we get a high volume workload for Hunt.
RB – Le’Veon Bell, $4,600 – Yes this selection is a bit of a gamble as Clyde Edwards-Helaire will obviously start in the backfield for the Chiefs. With that said, I see this game being blown out by half time and the Chiefs giving plenty of backups playing time. Enter Bell, who will obviously be highly motivated against his former team. He looked better in 6 carries for the Chiefs last week than he had done in a year and a half in New York. Sometimes the stories write themselves……
WR – Davante Adams, $8,800 – I missed out last week, but not this time. After torching a porous secondary for 196 yards and 2 touchdowns last week, Adams draws another soft coverage team in the Vikings. The Vikings rank 29th in terms of points allowed to opposing receivers. I am therefore fully expecting another huge haul from Aaron Rodgers favourite target in this one. He has topped 150 yards in half of the games he has suited up in so far throughout the season.

WR – Tee Higgins, $5,600 – The rookie continues to impress in his debut campaign. In a game where the Bengals are likely to be playing from behind, you would expect plenty of volume through the air. After a slow start to the season, Higgins has emerged to be part of the 3 headed receiving attack in Cincy and has developed a fine chemistry with Joe Burrow. He has averaged around 17 fantasy points per game over the stretch of the last 5 contests which bodes well against a Titans unit giving up 276 passing yards a game, ranked 26th in the NFL.
WR – Cole Beasley, $5,300 – Beasley led the Bills in receiving last weekend and has been very consistent throughout the campaign. He is averaging 14.9 points per contest so far and with number 1 receiver Stefon Diggs likely to be covered by Stephon Gilmore it could easily open up room underneath for Beasley to exploit. A bonus touchdown would be nice on top of a nice haul of receptions for the wily veteran.
TE – Darren Waller, $5,600 – Waller continues to see plenty of targets in an offence that once again will likely lean heavily on the pass game. Cleveland have been stout against the run but poor against the pass. They rank 28th worst in terms of points given up to opposing tight ends, so this is a good game on paper for Waller. This game is likely to be a high scoring affair as both sides are better offensively than they are defensively.
FLEX – Rashard Higgins $4,200- As explained above for Darren Waller, I expect this game to be a high scoring one. Higgins is the man most likely to benefit from the injury sustained by OBJ last week. He has displayed chemistry with Baker Mayfield since his rookie season and his lack of usage over the past 18 months has been a puzzling one for Browns fans. The man nicknamed “Hollywood” will be looking to seize his opportunity here.
DST – Buffalo Bills, $3,300 – The Patriots were absolutely woeful on offence last week against the 49ers and I don’t see how a week will change an awful lot of their fortunes. Julian Edleman is now also out so I really like the Bills defence here to swarm the run and make Cam beat them through the air, which I doubt he can do.
Good luck if you are playing in week number 8. Catch me tomorrow on the Full10 Yards NFL podcast where we will be reviewing all of the action.
